Inspiring conference on marine education

In July, we had the privilege to go on NMEA:s annual conference in New Hampshire, USA . Click here to go to their website.
We got to listen to some of the latest marine research. Among other things, the mapping of the seabed, lobster fishing and invasive species. We also got to meet other educators who work with similar things we. A really exciting project that we are curious about is dealing with the so called. miniboats. There are small boats that sail around the ocean and log their position. The students who are involved in the project can follow them and get an insight into how the currents and the winds behave. And they can also connect with other schools in the world right their ship founder on another continent. Almost message in a bottle.
We also met a teacher who builds custom coral reefs in the classroom, really really exciting.
One of the days we had a talk about how we work at our school. We talked about our thoughts on how to work with scientific instruments to get students interested and curious.
